My GF family had a bit of a problem with my snakes, one actually called me a Demon. I had to explain to them that they were totally harmless. I let a hatching bite me just to prove my point. They think it's pretty cool now. Although few of them will come to my house. They have accepted it completely. Even my GF was scared of them at first, now she wants to start her own collection of morphs that she likes and wants to work with.
It's human nature to fear what the unusual or unknown. Your best bet is to talk the the person saying ignorant comments. Try to explain that the animals are harmless and actually fun to handle and be around. They may not want to be near them, but they don't have to think you worship Satan because you enjoy your pets. If they won't listen to reason, than I wouldn't waste my energy trying to educate them. Let them think what they want, and don't know that you tried your best.
    Hope this helps.
    Merry Christmas!!!
