Breeding your male to how many females at once?

Since breeding season is underway I was just curious as to how many of you guys out there will use (1) male to breed to more than one female at a time. And if so how up to how many females will you breed him to? Enjoy this one

Depends on the size of the male for me and if he still eats. I have a 1300g male pastel lesser who still eats and he has 5 girls. My 500g pin het albino is a picky eater and he has 2 girls. Hope that helps!!

Depends on size and age X2. 500-800 gram males will breed 2 females or so, but the bigger, 4-5 year olds can be put with 5+ females, especially if they still eat during breeding season

500 gram Mojo has one girl, 1000 gm lesser -1 girl ( could do more but only 1 pairing needed) 1200 gram Fire- 6 girls mainly because he will eat anytime and anything, Also let my son pair his male spider with a pastel female as he is shooting for bumblebees ( she will eventually get backed up a time or two with the fire, after a couple of the girls he's with ovulate. I have 3 girls with 35+ mm folicles, so should be very shortly.

My 1300g boy has 5 girlfriends this season, which allows him time with each one every month. Last season, he was only 700g, so he only got 2 girlfriends. On a sidenote, he went off feed for a few months last year, but hasn't missed a meal yet this season.

Wow that is one busy boy, if I could get my boy to eat. I would have put him in with atleast 2 other females. But he hasnt eaten a bite since I put him in with the first female. So now he's on break, now he's in his tub until I get him out again in late Feb for my other female.

    Good luck with yours

Thanks! I've caught locks with 4 out of 5, so far so good! He's eating non-stop this year, but did go off feed last season for ~5 months. As long as your boy isn't losing weight and gets his breaks, he should be fine to keep breeding.

Re: Breeding your male to how many females at once?

I have heard of males breeding up to 13 females, but I'm sure they could breed more than that. I used to breed my males to around five females when I bred balls.

I know someone who breeds 1 male to 8 females and has great success with it. Me, I only have 3 females going at the moment with 2 different males (gstripe to 2 poss het gstripes, and spider male to normal female). I would agree that I would base how many to breed a boy to based on his condition...

Re: Breeding your male to how many females at once?

as long as you're efficient in your breeding schedule, I really don't see why there would be a limit. I've had good success with breeding each female about once every 4-6 weeks and as long as the male continued to eat it really shouldn't even matter what size he is
