Are these rats too young to live without mom? Need help asap!

I bought a few feeder rats yesterday and I held back some that I really liked; and I was wondering what kind they are.

Also, I think they look really young, will they die without their mom? Is there something else I should be feeding them besides Mazuri rodent blocks? I'm guessing they're around 3 to 5 weeks old. I really want them to live! Need some help please, thanks!

There's a lot of light brown ones, ones with white bodies and light brown faces, and ones with black heads and a white body with black stripes going down their back.

I would think those are weaned or ready to be. Just feed them somefood and see if they eat. I'm sure they will be fine.

They look old enough to live without mom. I've had younger looking rats survive fine on water and rodent blocks.

    Good luck!

I agree, they look like they should be fine without mom.
Just make sure that they can reach the water and food.

They are probably okay to be on their own.

If you're worried, what I do when I wean a little younger, is I take the rodent block, and put it in a shallow bowl of water, so it's soft. They get hydrated and the food is easier for them to chew.

Also, looks like you have a blazed rat (the one with the "V" on it's head)
Be wary about breeding that one since blazed have a tendency to carry Mega Colon, and high whites from blazed lines are notorious for that! ;-)

I breed tons of blazes, it's all about the genetics and whether you know what you're breeding.
If it's a recessive trait high white then it's perfectly safe to breed.

I dont have any idea about rat genetics.. guess I'll have to look them up some time.
