    Freshly Shed Dumeril's Boa

My Dumeril's Boa (recently named Helena) just shed last night. It was the first time I've gotten to watch it take place in person. It would have been a complete shed if she hadn't shed part of her tail first. Her head wasn't even started and I realized that after I pulled her out. I put her back in her cage and she started rubbing her head against the side and started the shed for the rest of her body.

She will most likely be between 5-7ft full grown. She's currently in a Zilla 30 Breeder, but I will eventually put her in a 4X2 or 6X2 enclosure.

They're a super friendly species of boa and even though she isn't used to human contact she's generally okay with being handled. She's a little flighty right now though.

And nope, no musk this time, but I didn't handle her for long.

    Re: Freshly Shed Dumeril's Boa

She's gorgeous! My little Dum just shed last week, ate a couple days ago, and I finally got to hold her tonight! She too is rather flighty. Every time I touch her she jerks. Until she settled in around my neck to watch tv. Then she was fine. I don't know the extent of her handling so I'm still figuring that out. But glad to hear no musk this time! I love the intricate color patterns on these snakes.

Dumeril's are such an underrated species and I'm not sure why. They have the perfect size for someone that wants that great boa personality without having to deal with the larger sizes of red tails. I love their unique patterns, yours is quite the looker. You are really starting to rack up quite the collection Kinra! Keep the pictures coming, I know I enjoy them.
