    Tub with no rack?

So, I have a few snakes *as seen in my sig* and i've been thinking of expanding one day. I hear tubs are the way to go...

    So..

Do you have to have a rack system with tubs? I mean, I feel like you would, but i'm just wondering? I would assume if you didn't there would be a ton of issues with heating and security and all these things...just wondering, can it be done? If so, how did you or would you do it?

There are a ton of threads stickied at the top of the DIY forum that have been helpful in designing my setup. Here is one I remember that had shelves but it is an open setup that I'm sure you can adapt to whatever your needs require. You can see how they address security with the straps around the tub.

Thanks man! I should've done my research...when looking at the thread titles I just assumed it meant for a rack.

Just remember to use strong clamps on the lid, as they will shove the lid up, and can skin themselves trying to squeeze out.

I use tubs and I don't have a rack yet, no issues yet they work great I use a under tank heat pad taped to the tubs, and i elevated each tub about a inch so the (uth) will not over heat, the tubs have the normal handle locks on them i have had no issue with them trying to escape. They are great for keeping the humidity up!

Thom, I recommend adding strong clamps to the long sides, the ones the locks are not on. I used a similar bin as a quarantine container, and had a female skin her nose forcing the lid up. Learned my lesson quickly. (She's fine, now). She had been in the bin for weeks before she decided to pull that trick, so don't trust it.

    No clamps need at all...

Heck you can do the same with hatchling racks too...
