Un-Happy Introduction.
So after waiting a bit longer on my 1st pairing of the season due to my male spider going into shed. He finally shed for me yesturday, ate late nite around 7 and this afternoon at 12 i put my spider in with my girl (sittin at 1552). He always had an intrest in the smell of the females but when i put them together they sat on opposite sides of the tub. I wasnt expecting instant lock or acceptance but I wasnt expecting this..... I went upstairs to use the bathroom by the time i came back down they knocked around in the tub pretty feirce it was about 2 inches out of the rack. The male seem terrified and wanted out fast as possible, my female was slamming her body into him to get him out. I didnt see any striking but there was a look in their eyes like it was about to happen, so i instantly split them up fearing male injury. Soon as he got out he peed all over me. Is this normal the combat? Im going to resex my female, It was sold to me as a female about a year ago now before i could sex. I couldnt feel any plugs when i rubbed the tail down earlier when i split them up (in the female).
Is it normal for fighting if a female isnt quit ready? but im thinking my ardis is an adam going ot resex very soon.

I've seen males and females get a little jumpy or twitchy about having the other in with them, but your deal sounds a lot like male to male combat...

Always by your side...
That cat's something I can't explain...

Yeah im going to give "her/IT" some time to cool down. Ive heard of male fighting before and soon as i heard the thumping about my heart dropped. So i might not be breedig this year..... im going to recheck every animal i own(normal), i know my morphs are all males. Ive got a card for my spider, my pin was checked and sold to me by a guy I trust so i know hes a boy, the mojave was bought by his original owner at the toronto show from a big name breeder, and my pastel he came with 2 "females" in the deal which im thinking one is at least a male. Might aswell double check all my "females" to see if i even get to breed this year....
2 females came in one deal as 2 females(one hatchling one juvi) with the pastel. 2 females were from a petstore they got a batch of 12 and breeder said most were female. ANd my last female was dropped off at the petstore i worked at and it was left with a feeding card with speradic feeding date 3-18 days apart with a girl sign on it, but im thinking it was jsut drawn on in hopes of more cash.

Sorry to hear that, that must be really frustrating. You could sell your normal male and buy a breeder sized female, after waiting the 2-3 months of quarantine you could try your spider again. Just a thought...

So i went and probed every "female" i own. The count is 4 F - 1 M. Every other female let it in 3-4 scales deep, but "ardis" went in 9 which is a guy lol. I checked them all twice just to make sure. Im sad that i got burnt but now i can sell the male, keep the females, make the "real" breeding plans and makes decisions on who goes with who. I might buy a new breeding size normal female or i might just a morph female next instead. Or both Oh well not everything works out perfectly, nothing to make me more adimate about breeding then a little set back. But oh the babies it would have made.
It sucks but he was one of the 3 possibly 4 females that i had plans on breeding this year. But this was supposed to be my reduced pattern / black backed spider clutch.
This is my spider :

I'm sorry to hear about your female being a male, but I'm glad your others are female.
