I'm in no way an expert, however I would think its more advisable to wait until after his shed. Reasons being it would cause less stress on your male to wait. IMO I think it would possibly effect your pairing if he is stressed, I might be totally wrong but atleast you got my 2¢ to add to your piggy bank...lol
