    Re: het red?

I really don't see het red! If your looking for a het red get one that is a definite morph. The good ones are really easy to tell apart from normals.

^^ Agreed. It looks like a normal to me, and most het reds are more visual than that.

i had met the guy at the des moines show and he had other het reds there and they looked a little different than this one but i didnt have enough money to pick one up and just got a hold of him to ask if he had any left and this is his only one but he didnt take this one to the show. he says its a het red but like i said i dont know how to spot a het red from a funky looking normal so i figured id ask. thanks for your help.

    Re: het red?

i breed het reds and sometimes you get one that is hard to tell.
when a het red is bred to a normal the babies arent as dramatic as a red axanthic bred to a normal. yes when a red axanthic is bred to a normal all babies are going to be het reds, but visually they are better as well. find out the parents. also see if he has a baby pre shed pic of the same snake. its easier to tell het reds prior to the first shed.
as far as the one in question goes, it could be but would be considered a low grade one imho.

in the sticky section of morphs and genetics forum here on BP.net their is a hunters guide that will help you identify a good het red. here is a link

    Re: het red?

It looks like it could be het red actually, just not as extreme as some. I see a squiglly mark on it and you don't normally see those on normals.
