    Horribe pet store.....

I've held back a lot.. I've done a lot to help when I shouldn't have, but this is ridiculous... animal cruelty cab not describe how bad this case has gotten, and what is done, nothing... our local pet store pushed my last buttons finally. This poor red tail boa is COVERED in mites, and the owner refuses to admit it.. (you may not see them at first but all the black dots are mites.)

Right now this is the only picture I could get, very stingy picture wise.. but I'll go on some more.. not only are the other 3 snakes, two balls And a Burmese covered as well, there enclosures are rarely changed, the Burmese is constipated and has a RI as does one of the bald And the RTB... multiple turtles.. each one in to small of a cage, and even worse a few are developing shell rot... (small cases but still..) the small animals are just as bad.. feeder mice And rats stuffed to the brink inside cages, 8-10 medium rabbits in a small hutch, multiple birds who cages are cleaned once a month or less And again over crowded..

Will anyone do anything? Most likely not.. has the store been shut down before? Four times... and by 3 owners..

It truly is saddening that it seems America only cares about cats and dogs..

that is horrible but yet i hear you on this one . i also have a local petstore like this and i have been their multiple times resisting the urge to actually steal they reptiles ( the store does not deserve the money they will get if the reptiles even do survive long enough to get adopted ) it is horrible and very sad and very very agitating AND ABOVE ALL ! the snakes or poor iguanas DO NOT DESERVE IT there are so many times where i see people or pet stores feeding iguanas a 100% protien diet of crickets ! like seriously ????? that is like trying to make a snake or monitor eat a salad !!!!!!! i hate pet stores like this ! even petco and petsmart and (discount pet this is the spesific place i am refering to !)

PLEAS NO ONE SUPPORT THESE COMPANYS IN ANY WAY ! IF ANYTHING TAKE THE SNAKES AND SAVE THEM ! HAHA jk (maybe >:] )

    Re: Horribe pet store.....

logically buying up their animals sounds like saving them but ya gotta understand that by emptying their cages you'd only be making room for more to be put in them...hence allowing the cycle of animal abuse to continue.
my question...why is that store being allowed to reopen even with new owners when the living conditions of the animals is not changing?
pet stores have to go through regular inspections to make sure they're up to par with their caging & care of the animals so unless the inspector is both blind & stupid theres no way a store set up like that could pass such an inspection...or so one would think....

I did save one, an adult female ball. She's so so much better now. And put ob close to 200 grams since I rescued her. The saddest part is... the shop is going to most likely close.soon.. and ifnthey do I.may be having animals come to me... But I just can't afford the vet bills.. taking.one to the vet is hard enough, and now another is starting to get A RI... couldn't be a worst time.. I plan on getting more pictures, but I'm going through so many options its unbearable, the albino Burmese they have is mean as a Tasmania Devil, why.. it's cage is to small, it has mites, an RI is constipated and it's temperatures are barely high enough for it to live, and to make it worse it's horribly mal nourished. 1 small mouse a week for a 3,000+ gram Burmese and they expect it to be nice... and plan on killing it.

It goes on and on and it break my heart. My fiancée wants me to buy the beardies they have but the truth is... we have No room.. if any people in IL have room, there may be reptiles going to a shelter soon. How soon? Idk.. but I'm hoping there home is better then the hole they live in now...

That's so sad! I don't go to pet stores anymore for that very reason, unfortunately all the people that buy from them keep them in business. Every one I've been to here only cares about the bottom dollar and could care less about their animals. I'm amazed that there are still pet stores here! Sadly that's how most of them operate and not just the reptiles, cat's and dogs live in horrible conditions but they're still making money it just boggles my mind

holy crap! that's like feeding a dog 1 piece of kibble & expecting it to be satisfied on that...hell i'd be mean too if i were that burmese python. bet the poor thing is seeing every warm body walking by its cage as a yummy opportunity. :

thanks. She's a trouble eater, but I got her to down 5 adult mice yesterday. Really fattened her up and she's happier now. I really wanna rescue that RTB, it is docile once you hold it, I just can't afford another vet appointment, it's bad enough my pastel is battling a RI and now our normal ball IA developing one.

I got enraged by it being fed So little I actually bought it two rats and it downed both. After seeing That's on of the workers actually feed it two to three mice a week now, but that's still not enough. But, on another note apparently we have two.. umm. I'll just leave it at that. Who come in and offer cash for Burmese then skin them and eat them. how could someone do that just for a yellow purse......

I know what you... I am glad though, That in IL a cat or dog has to be registered to be sold. So only a select few shops within 100 miles sell cats and dogs, and they live in good conditions tbh, until you get into Chicago... and it's true, they want to make a profit, That's all most stores care about. I haven't seen one good pet store that's not a franchise. And honestly, this is the worst part, when You loose maybe 1,000-5,000 a month, BUT gain almost 50,000 revenue after all your expenses from only 1 of your multiple businesses how can you complain when you loose such a small percent....
