Mites on feeders?
The frozen rats I just picked up have mites...they're dead from freezing, am I ok to feed them to my BP? I don't have anywhere in town to buy feeders; I have to pick them up when I visit my parents in the city.
I'm a little bummed, the guy I buy from is super nice and the rats are always plump and fresh. Am I freaking out over nothing? XD

Im not sure but eggs might be able to withstand freezing. i wouldn't mess with them. better safe than sorry.

snake mites are highly unlikely to be on a mammal. Are you sure they are not fleas?

Not unless rodent fleas look completely different from dog fleas. XD They're tiny and brown, like very small head lice. Rodents would have their own type of mite, right?

YES absolutely. Ear mites in cats are dogs are common I don't know if there is a rat mite but certainly a number of mammalian mites I do not believe that cross species carrier is really likely. That being said I am not sure I would want to buy from a rattery that had mites either. Not for fear of the snakes picking it up but if there are mites but for me the conditions rodents are raised under matter ethically. I would be concerned for the health and well being of rats with mites. Have to spoken to the breeder? Perhaps you should, he/she may either let you know it is or has been dealt with or what is up. They maybe proactive and dealing with the issue. Or may not know about it. A supplier that is local reliable and easy to deal with is worth a little effort to maintain a good relationship with.

I sent him an email and he said he's never had an issue before. I do believe him, I've seen his rat racks and breeders and everything was clean and well-maintained. He said he's going to check them, even the frozen ones. I'm certainly not worried about the condition/health of the feeders.  As long as I know they can't spread to my snakes, I'm satisfied. Hopefully things will be cleared up by the next batch.

The black dots you seen ive have witnessed them from a order i got from RodentPro years ago. This stopped me from ordering from them and breed my own rats. Problem was gone instantly.
They can only harm the snake internally via tape worm mostly which fleas will withstand freezer temps to a certain degree before they die.
