Does "I can't even remember" count as an answer? It has been over 6 months for me and I don't see a reason to clean it for another 6 months. My roaches are in one of the solid Tupperware/Sterilite bins probably about 20 gallons. When I feed, I tilt the frass to the back and add food on the clean floor. Definitely over 500 roaches of all sizes in the bin.

I too have heard the nymphs eat the frass. But they don't have any smell and they definitely aren't bothered by the pieces because it is dry.
