    Spider genetic stripe

Someone I know has a spider genetic stripe, the one I got Ivan from. Well since I offered to sell him back to her to make room for my new pastel (coming soon) she offered to trade me the spider genetic stripe for him and the pastel. She does not have papers but she's pretty darn sure that it's genetic. I will post pictures as soon as I am able. He has a stripe down 40% of his spine starting just past the head with two black lines (still got a bit of the spider squiggles) on either side all the way down but are straight from the start of his neck to after the first few inches. And the stripe is significantly lighter than the rest of his body. Basically is this a good trade? A male pastel poss het albino + reduced pattern normal male for a male spider genetic stripe? What is the chance that it's not genetic? She says if it shows it's more than likely genetic and at the least his babies will be highly reduced pattern.

The real genetic stripe mutation is recessive. Do you mean like a dominant blackback type stripe?

    Re: Spider genetic stripe

From what i've seen a normal spider has a black line down their spine. This one has a stripe down it's spine that looks very similar to a genetic stripe with black lines on both sides of this stripe instead of one running down the spin like a normal spider. But i've seen a spider genetic stripe and it doesn't look like that either. The spider genetic stripes have a straight like on both sides of the stripe running the whole length of the spine. This one only has it down half the spine and the lines one the side still got a bit of the spider squiggles plus a couple go into the stripe and this doesn't happen on the spider genetic stripe.

I hate to break it to you but a dorsal stripe like that just means a low quality spider usually. If you're describing what I'm thinking it sounds like a low quality spider.

    Regards,

Alright, well that makes more sense but i'll post a picture when I can. I looked up spider genetic stripe and it doesn't look like that. Probably end up keeping my pastel het albino and get an adult female spider next year when he's ready to breed along with a het albino female to prove him out. You only get your first morph once and I don't really want to trade him for anything

I would have disagree with this. I've seen (and was lucky enough to hatch one ) of these "striped spiders". The father has about a half stripe and it only carried to one of his offspring. I don't know if it's truely genetic( not a Genetic Stripe Spider) or not, but she has a nice 3/4 dorsal stripe and her sides are very reduced. She's very nice....but I'm alittle partial

Scroll down to the middle of the page....

Striders or genetic striped(not g-stripe) spiders have been around a few years at least.

Ah, okay, I see what she has. I wouldn't do the trade ... It's still just a spider.

Yeah i'd rather have a pastel het albino than a regular ole spider, plus he'll be my first morph and you only get that once. So i'll keep him
