Earth snake rescue needs home?
My dad rescued an earth snake from a spider's web at his work. I'd like to find somone to care for it.
I hope this is okay to post, it's not really an ad, it's more of a 'help wanted' thread!
I'm in the Richmond area, traveling to Baltimore area next week.
If you or someone you know can help, let me know!
I also don't know what to feed it. I gave it a tiny moth that I smooshed a little, and he seemed interested. What else should I try?

why do you feel like you need to rescue it from the wild,,, just put it back.

Mostly because it wasn't in the wild. It was living inside of a building.

I don't think releasing it into the building would be appropriate. I also don't think releasing it onto frozen ground would be either. And those are pretty much my choices right now.
My friend who rehabilitates wild life, said, if I bring it to her she would keep it through winter and release it in the spring.

It was hanging by it's neck in a spider's web. . .

I agree with not putting it back outside until spring. If it was living in a building, then it hasn't had the chance to prepare itself for the cooler months and may not survive. I'd have your friend take care of it until spring. Good luck with it.

I would agree on keeping him until spring...he was in the building seeking shelter for the winter probably.
