Mouse bit my baby.
So while feeding my Harry, my little columbian red-tail, a mouse bit her on the side of her mouth. She still ate the mouse, but now, two days later she has a little black bump on her lip. Is this something to be concerned about?
I think I might switch to rats. Appropriately sized rats cant hurt her.
Thanks
Gonzo

I forgot to mention that I tried to take pics, but she is not a fan of the holding still. Wiggly little worm.

I'd keep an eye on it just for signs of infection, without pictures there's no way to tell how bad it is. Have you considered f/t rodents? Boas tend to eat anything, and switching shouldn't be a problem...

Switching from mice to rats won't solve this problem. If anything, rats get bigger and are more dangerous to the snake.
Switching to f/t (frozen-thawed) will solve the problem.
I'd take the snake to a vet.

I will try and see if I can get a pic of it. I will try f/t on her next feeding. Would be alot easier.

I know live rats are more dangerous than live mice, especially once they get bigger. My boa never hesitates for a f/t rat, they have better appetites than balls lol.

Well, I prekill my rats. The method i use would not work on a mouse.

Re: Mouse bit my baby.
I have two words to solve your future bite problems: cervical dislocation, a mouse goes out way easier then a rat this way because they have smaller bone structure. Boas are so easy to feed p/k or f/t to because they aren't picky, I just thaw over night and feed the next day without the need to warm up the rodents and all of my boas eat when offered food. Good luck bud

My experience is that mice will bite and are more aggressive than rats.
