    Not necessarily. The coloration can vary in both snakes. I look at the side markings. On a Dumerils (Acrantophis Dumerili) the black side markings are more of a " + " shape, and will usually go higher up, or join, across the back. The Madagascar Ground Boa (Acrantophis Madagascariensis), the black side markings are more " - " shape, and do not go up across the back.
