    Recent Decrease in Appetite

    Hey everyone.

My normal ball has had a recent decrease in appetite. He's about a year and a half, and over 3.5 feet long. I've been feeding him 3 f/t hopper ASF rats (about 36 grams each) every week, and until recently, he ate all 3 no problem.

A few weeks ago I started buying rats from a new supplier. The first 2 weeks, he ate all 3 rats. The last 3 weeks, he has only eaten 1 out of 3 rats.

I'm wondering what could make him decide to go from 3 to 1 each week all of a sudden. His husbandry is perfect (although I have him in a 28q tub, I'm thinking now at 3.5 feet he needs a larger tub... any advice on this would be great too) and he is not stressed.

Any advice on the eating and tub size appreciated.

    Re: Recent Decrease in Appetite

Knock on wood but from what I have read isn't this around the time of the year they start eating a little less or start fasting? This is from what I read. I'm sure someone can give a better answer than me though.

    Thanks,

    RJ

It MIGHT make sense. I am on Vancouver Island and it has definitely become winter during the time of his appetite decrease.

The heat in our apartment has finally come on, so it's warmer in the house and in his tub, so perhaps he needs to eat less?

    I just don't know.
