hairless
i fed off most of this litter. i saved these three because they were getting bigger than i wanted to feed at the moment. Then i noticed they are losing their hair. The mom is a rex and the dad is not. they lose more hair every day. These pics are from yesterday and when i check on them today they have lost all hair except the head and a few small patches.. are these double rex hairless? should i keep them as breeders or feed them off? sorry for the crappy pics.

Those are very odd. Usually a double rex won't grow in a full coat like that, and then lose it. Neither will a hairless rat.
I'd hold on to them if they're healthy, and see what happens. If they start to look sick, then they might have something wrong with them.
It is extremely strange that their hair fell out at such an alarming rate.
Keep them around, keep us updated.

I agree, very strange looking, none of my double rex's or hairless look like that in molt or not

ZOMBIE RATS!
The loose wrinkled skin in the one picture looks like muscle
Definitely want updates on the Zomrats

I just had a litter that is doing the exact same thing! Some of them in the litter have patches missing like yours and the others have their hair still in tact but it is some of the softest/finest hair I have ever seen on a rat. I'll keep an eye on mine as well and keep you posted. You do the same!

If their hair is thin and scraggly, that's normal for hairless or double rex rats.
The rats photo'd are strange because they have a normal rex coat (so it seems) but they're losing it extremely fast.

Kinda wish i hadn't fed the other 10 off The coat is definitely that of a rex, i have plenty of black rex's so that why i was feeding them off. Then i notice hair loss FAST. Ill snap a few more pics here in a minute as its time to go check on everyone.

Well as stated here are more pics, AND you can CLEARLY see that they have lost more hair since the last "glamor shots" one has a cool stripe of hair perfectly down its spine.
i like the name "zomrats" lol

Do you have photos of the parents? You're sure one was rex and one was not?
To me these rats don't look double rex, but it's the only thing I can think of that comes close to causing hair loss and coat like that. Hmm.
