I'm going to agree with you on that one. Except to say within 100 miles, we only have 3 vets. 1 only cares about money, another knows NOTHING about snakes, and the other, well a 2 hour drive is not an easy feat...lol.
But yes, take your pet to the Vet!

Even if you find someone on here that knows if that is the proper drug and knows the correct dosage it's not likely that anyone will hand out that information here. Self medicating an animal is simply not a good idea without at the very least having a vet look at it first. I'm pretty confident noone here is going to tell you how to treat an animal they themselves can't even see firsthand.

Re: pet meds
is this an antibiotic? probally cant get a scrip without a visit..... but if you got it, youll be able to find the dosage on google or something.... as long as you know the risks that you might be taking, im not gonna say what you should or shouldent do.

I am pretty sure that you can only get doxycyclin with a prescription. It's an antibiotic, but snakes/reptiles work different than mammals.. so if it's a prescription you have from another pet, I would not use it on a reptile.
I'm making a lot of assumptions in my response, so if I'm mistaken, I'm sorry. :> But I really think asking a forum online about something a vet would really only know isn't the best idea. There are a lot of people out there who think they know better than trained professionals, and you might get instructed to do something that will harm your animal in the end.

Many URIs are resistant to Baytril.
Get a culture of the infection.
