    Question question about temperature?

hello everyone... it just came into my mind that in my snakes enclosure i have is 90F basking, 79F in his cold hide and 78F ambient(60% humidity), my room, in the other hand is sometimes 73F the coldest.

is it wrong if i decide to take my snake out of her 90F hide to my 73F room in just a matter of seconds? will it attempt against his health in some way.. like getting some resp infection?...of course i try to hold him while he is in his cold hide so he doesn't feel the temp drop.... but im just curious about it.. because is getting winter here in Arizona and i just want to make sure my snake wont get sick....

thanks guys, hope you can help me clear my mind!

I wouldnt worry about 73. Thats not a huge drop. Now if your talking like in the 60s or taking him out side then I would say no whether he was basking or not. But personally I feel that if it is over 70 then your snake will be fine.

By basking do you mean the temp on top of a surface under a direct overhead heat source or do you mean the hot side temp on top of the substrate/on top of the glass (if you have a tank) or on top of the tub (if you have a tub)?

I don't believe it will be harmful to your BP to take her out to handle her if she is in her hot hide and your room is 73 degrees (my snake room is kept at an average of 76-78). That's not freezing by any means.

So no, the temp drop from her hot side to the cooler ambient room temps should not make your BP sick.

I think you should be fine. It's over 70 in the room and what's more than that is you will be handling them. You give off body heat too, don't forget that! More in fact than the basking spot sometimes lol. Its part of why they are so happy to climb up sleeves and curl around our necks.
