Just a quick update on "Noah" my Mojave...

I thought I would create a new post instead of adding to the original post - hope that is okay.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Noah is doing great after his second surgery. He is home and doing well. I gave him his 5th shot of antibiotics today - 5 more to go.

His incision looks great. I am waiting on the results of the pathology report from the tissue samples that we sent out for inspection.

All in all, he looks great. I am sooo glad this is behind us. I just pray that this is the last surgery for this little guy - he's been thru enough.

I was instructed not to offer food for a few weeks - I guess the vet wanted this incision to close up really well prior to him deficating - since the incision was soooo close to the vent/cloaca.

Keep your fingers crossed that this nightmare is behind us now and my boy and can live a long, healthy life.

    Thanks.

Re: Just a quick update on "Noah" my Mojave...

**bump*** just wanted to let you guys know the latest information. The lab results came back and it was determined that the infection was classified as "bacterial granulomas". They asked me at this time for permission to test the tisse at the lab for TB just to be safe - they have seen TB in reptiles and felt that since they had a tissue sample to work with - why not - so I gave them permission to test for it. What's another $50 in the grand scheme of this nightmare - lol.

I am waiting for the results on the TB portion of the test - probably after Thanksgiving.

The vet said that the round of antibiotics that he initially gave Noah was sufficient to fight the bacterial infection so he felt we were in good shape there.

I plan to take Noah back to the vet for a recheck in the next couple of weeks. He is currently in shed - which I am sure was brought on from the surgery. I am anxious to see how his incision looks after he sheds but the vet warned that it could take several sheds before it looks better.

Well, thats all the news I have right now - just wanted to update you all.

    Thanks

Re: Just a quick update on "Noah" my Mojave...

Just heard from the vet about the test they ran on Noahs tissue to check for any signs of TB (tuberculousis) - all tests came back negative - hurray!!!

I will be taking him back to the vet on Dec. 9th for his recheck visit but all looks good and he is healing up nicely.
