No bait, no bite. No bite, hungry troll.
Personally, I use a nail gun. Got so I can hit the buggers running at 10 meters 7 out of 10 times.

I also feed live rats to my BP and I was nervous about him getting bit, so I started using hot glue to hold the rats mount shut, then I lop off all his toes so there are no nails to scratch the snake with either.

I don't know of anyone who ties rats mouths shut and I think you were given misinformation if you were told to do that. If you're concerned about your snake being bit you can try frozen rodents. Unfortunately some snakes won't take frozen and for my picky eaters I stand by with tongs in hand to move their mouths if the snakes don't get a good wrap. Most bites are superficial but your snake gets bit bad flush the wound with saline and apply antibiotic creme without pain reliever and switch substrate to paper towels so that no particles can get in the wound. Keep the cage clean and the injury shouldn't get infected and your snake will recover completely once it sheds. If you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask.

And if the rat bites the snake eye? That happened to my friend.Result-a half blind snake. My python doesn't eat dead rodents.Often after the snake coil-her head is under rat mouth and he bites very bad.My boa eye before 12 years was bitten,it was a LUCK she didn't lost her eye.

Sounds like your set on this. I would go with crazy glue.

I assure you that binding the rat's mouth is a terrible idea... Just buy tongs.
But if you really are set on it then take JohnNJ's advice

Try pre killing the rats. I've never had a rat bite any of my snakes' eyes.

I think glue would be worse for the snake than the bite. Swing the rat by the tail against a wall or hard surface and throw it in while it's still twitching.
Can't stop with just one!
