What's the best starter morphs for breeding?
Well i know there thousands of morphs out there for ball pythons. Now that my wife is addicted as well as i am, we are wanting to start breeding a few. Our thoughts were 5 females and 3 males. We already have a 0.1 bee and 1.0 mojave. What's the best options for new morphs to get the best bang for the buck and make something sweet? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

No morph is more difficult to care for than the other. So as long as you're housing properly & understand how morphs work, then its only a matter of how much you can afford. If you have a few grand go buy a champagne or a clown... If only few hundred, then just about any codom, simple recessive even double genes like bees.

There are thousands of morphs and thousands of answers.
Ultimately you should breed what you like.
Yes we would all like to make a buck or two but I would rather breed combos that I could look at every day and not regret starting all this IF I get stuck with them

I recently started out breeding i picked morphs i liked and ingredients to make combo tht i like. I have 4 morph but the potential to make..... 16 different animals without adding anything else to my collection and just working from here. It all comes down to what u like and want to make, ppl will want it when u sell it.

I'm just starting out my breeding project. I am starting with 4 snakes (blue eyed lucy (russo), pied, bumblebee, mystic potion). Three of them are females and the BEL is a male. I am doing this to get some cool white snakes in my first breeding year and I only got 1 male because I think a 1:3 ratio should work out well for breeding. I know I'm kind of putting all my eggs in one basket with him, but if he doesn't breed then I can get a new male up to speed in under a year if necessary. Also, I'm not trying to make any money doing this, I just love reptiles and want to try to make something unique (plus I got my 4 favorite morphs!)

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I'm just very excited to start to collect and breed a small group of balls, that I've over looked some important aspects. I appreciate all the honest opinions as well as good ideas. If anyone can point me in a good direction to find the calico or clown gene from a good source, please let me know. Thanks again

It really depends on what you are willing to spend.
If your looking for a cheap start you can pick up all the basic co-dom morphs and make yourself some double gene snakes for future breeding.
- Pastel
- Spider
- Mojave
- Lesser
- Fire
- Enchi
- Pin Stripe
- YB
- Etc.
These won't break your bank and is a good place to start with any combinations of these.

What would you recommend breeding to a female Cali bee?

Might want to start your own thread instead of digging up a 5 year old one.....
