    What to Do?

So I recently sold several ball pythons and just encountered my first problem. The person is claiming that the female I sent them is a male. I personally probed and popped each one of them and am very confident that I got them right. The person said they probed the snake and it probed very long on both sides. I am curious as to what I should do about this. If by chance I am wrong I will surely do everything I can to make things right I just think that I am not wrong. Any suggestions or similar type of things from others?

An inexperienced prober can cause serious issues by perforating the hemipenes. Not only injuring the animal but also it would probe wrong.
How experienced of a prober are they? That would be my very first concern.

x2, you have no way of knowing if the person knows how to probe correctly, so they could be wrong, my first thought would be to offer to pay to have it sexed by a vet for a confirmation

Yeah that is what I am going to suggest. I think a vet signature is the right way to go about it.

just explain to them that from a business standpoint, you cant trust their skills and you need another opinion, put it nicely and hope they understand

Tell them to take it to a vet, if he's wrong, he pays for the vet visit; if you are wrong, pay for the vet visit, return shipping, and a refund/replacement.

Also double check you are both talking about the same snake with a picture showing the pattern if possible.

If this person has already injured the snake with incorrect probing, can the vet tell ? I mean, if the worst did happen and he perforated the hemipenes, will the vet be able to tell it's a male or is the vet likely to think female as well ?

If I ever had a doubt about the sex of a snake I received, I'd take it to a vet, not try and sex it myself.

I hope this works out for you.

Ive never even bothered with probing. I'm just not comfortable with it. But I do support the suggestion of a vet checking things out. If the animal was injured by probing I am also unsure if a vet would be able to correctly tell. But that would forever make that animal unable to breed. If that's the case they should be stuck with their mistake.

    Re: What to Do?

I would ask for pics showing the hemipenes...That will settle it real quick.
