Yeah...it'll be ok. You'll want to clean up afterwards though, as soon as possible after she's done eating. For one...it stinks, as you've already noticed. For another, the guts or whatever is left behind will turn to cement against whatever its stuck to.

thanks, i already threw it away though and gave her a shower/towel wipe down and rinsed her stick, it got all over the place, most of the guts even fell out all over the table, but i didnt get a picture of that

the smell was worse than the dead opossum i found in my yard a while ago, and it was covered in maggots, thanks for the help, but i already had my panic attack lol, but next time i'll just let her finish

I've had that happen a few times over the years. I know the smell you are referring to. Not very pleasant at all.

could it have been the way i thawed it? i put it in the fridge last night, and put it on a heat pad(human type) to warm it up, before that, i'd just put it under hot water until it was soft and warm

Re: can they eat exploding mice? i need to know asap

If they get warmed up too much or for too long, gasses can expand in the belly. Also, if they've been frozen for too long, or repeatedly thawed and frozen, it can weaken the belly wall so that it will be prone to "exploding" even when properly thawed.

I'd say it really doesn't matter if you let the snake eat it or not...whatever makes you feel most comfortable. The one "explosion" I had, there was no way the snake was going to give that rat back to me, even if I'd wanted to take it.
