What temperature do you put on your thermostat?

I have my probe on a little piece of sterilite so it can measure the heat so I have mine on 91 but I also have a temp gun and when I measure the temperature of the heat tape its around 102. Should that be right?

There is really no answer for that it depends on a lot of things, type of heat source, thermostat itself, tubs, substrate, where the thermostat is placed, ambient room temp that could affect the probe etc.

I have some thermostat that are set to 80 and provide a hot spot of 83 (Colubrids)

I have some T-Stat set on 88 and the hot spot is at 88, I also have some set on 94 and the hot spot is at 88.

I set 90 and get 90... the advantages of enclosure set ups, perfect control.

In my rack, I have 94 set and get 89.6 on the lower (for that probe set) and 91.5 on the top of that set. (I use upper and lower probes as well as front and rear probes to control the rack.) My ambient room temp is between 66-70ºF - 77-80ºF or so, winter - summer. The rack is PVCx with 1/2 expanded foam insulation on sides and back 1 inch top and bottom. I use 4 inch flexwatt belly heat for the hot side and 17 inch for the cool side also belly heat cool side.

That is your issue your ambient temps most people with racks heat the room to 80 it is the easiest solution. What is you cool end and ambient air temps? Did you insulate the rack?
