    Possible Free Snake!!!

So, a co-worker's friend just had a baby and his wife is going to make him get rid of their ball python. She is a 4.5 foot normal, but I'm really hoping she may be het for albino since my young male is 100% het for albino. This guy is going to GIVE her away! I'm going to talk to him tonight and go see the snake. I know this is a dumb question, but if she is just a normal and I breed my 100% het to her, the babies will just be het for albino and no albinos will be produced right? I'll post pics if I get any.

I believe they will be 50% possible het for albino. Make sure to check for signs of sickness, hope it works out for you!

Exactly what LGray said. No visuals from a het to normal breeding. All offspring would have a 50% chance of being het, so 50% Poss Het...

They would be 50% possible het for albino and no you would not get any visual albinos. Takes two hets to make a visual and even then only roughly 25% would be visual with all 100% het.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the non-visual offspring from 2 hets be 66% poss het?

Right but you can't visually differentiate the hets from the normals, therefore all the normal looking babies are considered 66% poss right? I just wanna make sure I got my facts straight.

Correct. Say you have 4 eggs from a het x het breeding. 25% should be visual. The remaining 75% should have a 2/3 chance of being het.

    Het x normal = 50% possible het.
    Het x het = 66% possible het.
    Visual x normal = 100% het.

Hets can be a real pain to work with. You may breed two 100% hets together and never produce a visual. Likewise you may breed two 100% hets and get nothing but visuals. Just depends on how good of a gambler you are.
