i just ordered 2 large zilla terrarium dishes from reptilesupply.com to replace the flukers corner dishes i currently have.
does anyone have them too & if so what's the pros/cons with 'em?
i'm replacing the corner ones cuz they're made of stone & are a major pain to clean. the rock has natural little crevices that i cant get into to clean out.
the only thing i dont like about the zilla ones i'm waiting on is that they're kidney shaped so they're not gonna fit the same way the corner ones do...

i needed something that would be shallow, heavy, big enough to supply the needed daily humidity but easier to clean & those new ones fit the bill on all accounts, except...their odd shape.
eh, i just figured i'd put 'em in just right where the other ones are.
also with these ceramic ones, they're smaller width-wise then the corner ones so i'll be able to accommodate up to 10" hide boxes vs the 8.5" max i'd be able to go up to with these rock corner ones.
cant complain i guess if these new dishes only fault is their weird shape.

Ugh yeah those flukers corner bowls are horrible I unfortunately ended up with one when it came along with a corn that I rescued, and I ended up throwing it away because it was always so slimy and gross. I've found that, as nice as they are to look at, any of the "natural" looking stone ones are always more difficult to keep clean. I don't have any experience with those ceramic zilla ones, but I'm sure they're much easier to clean than the stone ones.

I've recently started switching over to the heavy plastic crock bowls from van ness and I love them. The ceramic ones are nice too, but they're a bit too heavy for me, plus with me being as clumsy as I am, I try to keep breakable things to a minimum

I use these heavy plastic crock bowls that I picked up from Wal-Mart. I got 2 for each snake. I put in the clean bowls and wash the dirty ones in the dishwasher.

I like the Zilla dishes they clean relatively easy and the kidney shape does fit into some spots better although usually not

i use tupperware, i have two of those "stone" corner ones but havent used them in years except as lid weights lol

i bought those stupid rock bowls cuz i was thinking of how they fit perfectly right next to the hide boxes & cuz they're heavy enough & shallow so they couldnt be tipped over. but oh my god...if i'd realized how hard it is to clean rock i woulda gotten the freakin' ceramic ones!
ceramic is a smooth surface so it'll definitely clean easier, i'm just also thinking about how the dishes will hold up to being directly over the heat pads, like will i have to worry about them cracking over time? probly not cuz its not like the temps are in the 100's or anything.
i'm still gonna do my normal water bowl cleaning every week when i refill them...or should i clean them more often so they dont get yucky gunk buildup.
i thought about the plastic crocks too but its the possibility of them being tipped over that stopped me from getting any.
some snakes [cough* hint* hint] like to climb all over their cage stuff on their way to the other side.
i dont need to be cleaning water spills every time someone thermo-regulates , lol.

I had used the rock looking bowls for a while and found the same thing about them not being too easy to clean thoroughly.

I now use large ceramic dog bowls for water and use the rock looking bowls to put moss in when I need to boost humidity or when they go into shed - the rock bowls are a rougher texture and makes a good rub for when trying to shed.

Just my ideas.

i just use plastic dog dishes you can get then pretty cheap at tractor supply and real easy to keep clean

I use the black rubber farm animal bowls from tractor supply. Both for sheds and water bowls. They hold the heat very well easy to cut for hides hard for them to tip over and cheap.

I meant hides. Oh and they have many different sizes. I just scrubbed them very well to get rid of new rubber smell
