Humidity Gauge Question

Hey guys I recently bought the Acu-Rite Thermometer/Hygrometer and I put it in my tank with my BP and it is reading 55% but I also have my old analog hygrometer in there and it is reading 80%. Im just curious as to what you guys think is more accurate, digital or analog. Any help would be great. Thanks.

The digital is way more accurate. the analog ones are very prone to be off....

Digital by far. Analogs are notoriously inaccurate.

Also she is acting kinda weird. She is climbing up the side of her tank and putting her head near the screen, and she doesn't usually do that... Does this mean its too humid and she is trying to get less humid air?...

I really doubt that her humidity has anything to do with that. What is your set up? Please include temps, hides, etc.....

Currently in 10 gal because she is about 3-4 months old. I have a humid hide on the left side with a fake plant covering it. I have an under tank heater and the temperature is set at 88-90 the air temperature is at 76 then on the cool side I have a half log hide and her water dish. The temp of the surface on the cool side is about 75 as well. I am using aspen bedding. She has only shed once and it was a good shed.

How long have you had her? the humidity isn't too high. I would cover the screen top to hold in more heat. Try to raise the ambient air temp to closer to 78-80.

Then if that causes the humidity to go over 65% consistently, I'd remove the humid hide and only put it in there when she is getting ready to shed.

The dial gage is way off. The accurite is much closer to what it actually is. The humidity should be about 60%.

If she sits with her head straight up a lot, I'd listen for Amy unusual sounds like wheezing, clicking, popping, coming from her mouth and check her mouth for excessive mucus.

Otherwise she's fine and just wants to do that. Exploring for a way out. Maybe smelling something interesting.

I have had her for about 2 months. I have been keeping a towel over the screen for a while and I recently made a tin foil cover for the top of my screen. Which do you think I should use? The towel or the tin foil/duct tape contraption? I haven't heard her making any noises she just keeps going towards the top of the screen. Maybe she just wants out? Im holding her now and she isn't doing anything out of the ordinary.

A simple salt test can help you double check ur humidity levels.

Take your analog hygrometer & put it in a ziplock bag. Take a regular bottle cap, fill 3/4 way with salt, almost to the top but not really. (theres videos if you want to look it up) then put water in the cap, enough for the salt to turn pasty. Use a paper towel to absorb any extra water on top, you only want to see pasty salt. Then put the bottle cap inside the ziplock bag. Zip it up and wait 8-24 hours. The analog hygrometer should read 75%. If theres a dial, you can manually adjust it, although like others have said, I would think that digital is much more accurate.
