I think I need a new plan for feeding day. I'm feeding close to 30 snakes on feeding days and maybe it will get easier when I move my females to a 5 day feeding schedule (doing this as soon as I pick up my next rat order), but keeping track of who is eating what and how many I need to take out to thaw is getting crazy. It doesn't help that most of my frozen rats are solid white and some of my medium rats can be mistaken for small rats if you aren't paying attention to whats left. Last week I accidentally mistook a medium rat for a small and feed it to the wrong snake. >_< It wasn't that big of a deal and she ate it just fine, but the snake I had intended to feed it to got a smaller meal.
The way I currently feed is I count up how many of what size I need and I let them thaw until they reach room temp. After that they all go into a bucket of warm water (I have a separate bucket for my QT room). I try to put the larger ones in first and go up from there. I feed my rack from top to bottom but it's not organized in any logical way.
So how to you handle feeding day? Any suggestions for how I can make my day easier are also welcome.![]()
