Mice or Rats
so i got my ball about 3 weeks ago, hes been eating mice fine (2 per feeding) hes about 4 years old and the guy i got him from said hes only ever fed him mice. so my question is should i keep him on mice and just up the amount up (since he eats 2 like a champ and looks for more) or try and switch him to rats?

Try to switch to rats. I used to use mice but you have to feed almost 4 mice for the equivalent of one medium rat. Rats are also supposed to be better for your snake. So, if you can switch go for it if not he will do fine on mice also.

Rats have more nutrients for your BP. So I would switch him to rats if you can. But that being said, BPs are picky eaters and he may not like rats. Most have a preference but you never know if he hasn't had one. Give it a try and good luck.

I feed rats to *almost* all of my snakes of various species.

Gram per gram it's all the same if you feed 75 grams worth the rat it will be the same than feeding 75 grams worth the mice the only difference in one case you will have to feed a single prey and the other you will have to feed multiple which can be a lot less convenient and more expensive.
In the end feed what works and is convenient to YOU.
I prefer to feed rats since I would rather feed one prey item than 3 or 4 but would have no problem doing so if I had to, of course with multiple animals it can make it a lot harder.
