Qt ?

I got my first two BP's from the same show back in August I believe. After the tinley show I picked up 2 yearlings from the same person. I was going off the 3 month rule of quarantine and so I have my rack with the two from the tinley show with one of the tanks on top and another tank on the opposite side of the room.

I know you are supossed to put them in different rooms but I only have room really in the den where I have them. I was wondering could I just quarantine them all in the same rack or is better they way I have it? My idea was to get through the 3 month qt and then clean the tanks and keep them for future hatchlings to use a qt tanks.

U want to keep them as far apart as possible. Since u don't have much room try to keep them on opposite ends. Treat every one of them for mites cuz they can spread. Always handle, clean, and feed the qt first and sanitize urself and anything that goes near them before going near the others.

You have the right idea. Keep them separated until the QT is complete. I have a 2 door 4 foot PVC enclosure that I use for QT on sub adult/ adult BP and a 10g tank for hatchings, and a 20g tank for Juvys. After they QT they find their way into my rack. Tanks are the best way to QT - easy to clean and easy to see whats going on. I usually do the quarantine process in one room, and all the snakes stay in the other room. Its really difficult to QT multiple snakes in your home as you probably don't have a dozen rooms to play around with - Just make sure you treat every new snake that comes in for mites. Proactive is ALWAYS better than reactive,

I did the same thing that you did. I did a qt where I just separated the my snakes. There are some who have qt racks which is very confusing IMO because its not necessarily QT. When you are QTing its so that the other snakes in your collection don't mites or problems, but whats the point of the rack then right? If you have a QT rack and have multiple snakes in the rack that's basically the same thing as putting it into your collection and putting your snakes at risk also. So do what you are doing and don't QT rack because its pointless and no different than putting your new snakes into your snake rack.
