I am guilty of buying a couple of animals with completely understanding them. I got my first spider before I knew about the spider wobble. I got my enchi because I wanted to make enchi bumble bees not really knowing what to look for in a good enchi.

I know you weren't trying to pick on them, but I'm just trying to help you see it from the other side. Proper care needs to be learned before purchasing an animal, but you can always learn more about the color mutation afterwards. At the start of the year I would have been hard pressed to tell a normal from a yellow belly, but now I feel confident that I know what to look for in the sublet morphs and can give an opinion. You have to start somewhere and this site is a huge help with that.
Im not disputing that, hell I can hardly still tell apart YB's from good looking normals. What I'm saying is, I wouldn't go and drop $200 on a YB unless I knew it's capapbilites and what not. A Pewter is pretty hard to pass as any other morph though, so I just feel they should have known what they were buying before dropping money like that.

Again I'm not targetting the TS, but it's many cases like this, where someones gets interested in BP's. Drops cash on a nice morph, without knowing exactly what they're doing, and then choose to rehome the snake cus they don't want to wait a few years for breeding, or don't wanna spend more money. AGAIN, I'm not saying TS is going to do this, but usually when you get into something you know before hand.

That's a good point. Deciding to get into breeding isn't the same as deciding to start painting or something because there is a life at stake. The animal needs to be considered in these cases.

Pewters are hard to pass off as a different morph. I personally prefer cinnies to black pastels, but to some it might not matter if a pewter is a cinny pewter or a black pewter in which case I think you can learn about it afterwards.

I wouldn't worry about offending anyone. We do all have to start somewhere. Like you I jumped the gun on my third snake purchase. I wanted a pastel female for my male spider and I ended up buying a Pastel Yellow Belly 50% het pied female with even seeing a picture. I got lucky and she is amazing but she certainly changed my plans.

You have a beautiful cinny pewter and there is a lot you can do with her. Good luck!

Please do nto taake offense to what I said. I wasn't born knowing. And I still have plenty to learn as well. Please ask as many questions as you need to, because you benefit yourself in doing so. The only dumb question is an unasked one. I'm sure if I go through my first posts, I probably asked some things I would consider dumb now.

I dunno that I believe in the pattern difference, but it does look like dark colored cinny pewter to me. Black pewters are usually even darker. People get used to the striking silver-yellow pewter specimens that get shown off the most, but in fact most cinny pewters are a bit more on the brown side.

Here, check out my 2009 cinny pewter girl for comparison:

And she was actually originally one of the lighter babies from this quadruple-pewter clutch at Heather's Herps:
