    Morph or Dinker?

Hey guys, I am sure there are some of you who missed my rescue post, but I wanted to make a post here as well to get some input strictly on the markings on this snake. I picked her up as a normal and she definitely needs a lot of TLC, but she has this marking that I have never seen before. I looked through all the dom/co-dom morphs listed on the site and didn't see anything like it. I haven't seen it on any balls before in the past either. Has anyone seen patterning like this? She has distinct black speckling through the gold parts of her body, especially on her neck in the dorsal stripe. Almost fully reduced with white rings around the golden parts of her body, which I guess can be common? But those speckles... has anyone seen this? Is it a morph or just a unique normal? Something possibly worth trying to prove? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's hard to say, but based solely on the pictures, I'd say that looks more like scarring than genetic coloration.

I know she has scarring on her back and some on her sides. You really think the small black flecks on her neck are just scarring? They are so numerous and very distinct throughout.

Those look like cuts "maybe from a rat" that healed up. I definitely don't see a morph, I don't even see a Dinker. Just a nice chewed up normal! , but that's just my opinion based on the pictures alone.

Unfortunately I agree that it looks like scaring. The poor thing is very lucky to be in your care now.

Well scarring or otherwise she will not have to worry about ever being cut up or chewed on again. The poor thing has some serious scarring on her back and sides, deep large gashes that almost look like someone took a knife to her rather than just a rat struggling.

I love her dearly already and normal or not she will not ever be leaving me. Sally has a forever home now where she won't have to worry about anything. Thank you guys for your input, I will continue to post pictures of her as she heals up.

I am glad to hear she has a good home! A lot of times with scarring that bad it doesn't happen when the rat is "struggling". That looks like a case of someone put a rat in and just left it, the snake didn't eat, the rat got hungry and eventually started munching on the snake.

It just shocks me that anyone would let this happen to their snake. It isn't something that happened because someone left a rat in overnight once. There is a lot of damage... poor Sally deserves a good home after what she's been through. Rest assured, she'll definitely get it!
