    How cool are Carpets ?

    Hi guys,
Im 14 and I got my first snake a year ago, a corn snake, but I feel I'm ready to tackle something a bit bigger (I've had experience with keeping a friend's red tail). I was looking into Carpet Python;s, more particularly Centarlians, and I wantedd to know how cool they are as a pet and if they don't require too much experience or care or anything that could go wrong, I just love their little faces and their attitudes.
Thanks alot for the help !
    Big L Rest in Peace.

I don't own a carpet, but from what I know they are an awesome species to own. I suggest doing as much research as possible before buying any species. I think as long as you are responsible, especially for your age, you could easily own one.

Here is the caresheet for carpet pythons
2.0 Offspring, 1.1 Normal Ball Python, 1.0 Pastel Ball Python, 0.1 Albino Ball Python, 0.1 Pinstripe Ball Python, 0.1 Banana Ball Python, 1.0 Pied Ball Python, 1.0 Normal Hognose, 0.1 Veiled Chameleon, 0.0.1 G.pulchra, 0.1 P.metallica, 0.1 M.giganteus

Re: How cool are Carpets ?

I have 3 ball pythons (normal, pastel, and pinstripe) along with a JCP I picked up from Kerry King. The balls are real mellow and laid back as far as their behavior goes. My JCP is a lot more active and when I first got him, i was struck on the web of my hand. It was a defensive strike because he never tried to coil my arm.

I would recommend starting out with a ball and then moving up to a JCP. I had my normal bp for 6 years before I got the JCP and did a lot of research before i picked him up. Hope this helps.

I have one and I love their attitudes. Of course some of my love of my carpet python might be frustration over how my Ball Python is a picky eater.

i relate here big time lol

I guess their attitude is a matter of preference but honestly if you want a snake that is very unlikely to/wont bite a carpet is the wrong choice.

They are great snakes one of my favorite species very intelligent, very aware of their surrounding, very inquisitive everything a ball python is not at the handling level.

And of course many are real eye candy as well.

I have a Bredli (Centralian) and she is an awesome animal. She was very nippy at first, but after a couple of months of regular handling she snapped out of it. Now she is pretty mellow.

Great feeding response, she'd eat every day if I let her. They are very fast growers. She went from 90 to 650 grams in 7 months.

They are one of the larger carpets, however.

Anyway, I think a Bredli, or any carpet for that matter, would be a great species to get into as long as you're ready.
