So first of all I just want to say that snickers lives in a a regular tank with a screened lid with tin-foil taped to the top of it with a few air holes cut out for circulation.
She also has a container of sphagnum moss in her tank that gets sprayed down every other day.
That seems to work out fine for her humidity levels and when she goes into a shed I just spritz her tank down twice a day to keep the humidity at roughly 70.
Anyway....the other night I took her tupperware dish of moss out and started spraying in down and then all of a sudden I saw a spider(and since I am deathly afraid of bugs) my gut reaction without thinking was to chuck the container against the wall creating a huge mess of moss all over the place.
My boyfriend quickly found and killed the spider.
We don't have a big bug problem in our house and but once in a while will have to kill a spider.
I am now a bit freaked out though for a couple of reasons:
1. I have never seen a spider here that looked like that! It was WHITE and counting it's outstretched legs was probably only the size of my thumbnail.
2. I don't know HOW it got into her tank! It looked too big to fit through the screen. The only time her hinged screen lid is open for longer than 20 seconds is when her water gets dumped and changed(which is everyday though)
It just really bothers me that a spider got into her tank!!! How in the hell did it get inside??? Could it have harmed her??? She ate 2 days later and is still acting normal.
