    new snake interesting experience.

Ok so Sunday I picked up a new little Lesser girl from a local expo. She traveled 4-5 hours to get to the expo, and sat on a table for 6 hours and then came home with me. I had to set up an enclosure for her (I keep extra everything handy in case I need it) and as I had had a long busy day skipped feeding day and went to bed. Last night I fed all my regular ones as per usual and looked over at the new lesser, out of her hide and all over the place. i though to myself aren't you a little bold one. I decided hey I have an extra little pink (my recent saved royal is still eating pinks two at a time) so I thought if you want it that badly why not. I got the lid open she retreated, but not far, I moved the rat pink over the top and bang. I found it kinda stunning I didn't expect her to take it. Today she is tucked up in her hide and seems completely content.

The breeder told me she was a great feeder but I was not expecting that! I'll post some photos of her once she has had some time to digest and settle in some more. I just thought I'd share a good feeding story for a change!

Congrats! My granite lesser girl ate the day after I brought her home from Myrtle Beach (6 hour drive) a couple of weeks ago. Isn't it a great feeling?!

After babies have become established eaters, they're no different than any other species and will basically eat as much as you want to give them. The quirky thing about Ball Pythons is that when they get to a certain point, usually around 800-1,000 grams, they quite often just STOP eating for an indeterminate amount of time. Not all do, of course, but that is where the whole "They're picky eaters" thing comes from. And then also, as adults they can fast for long periods or only eat during certain times of the year. For a baby to be ravenous is not uncommon at all though...so enjoy it while it lasts.

Similar story for me. Picked up a 2 month old BP from an expo. Figured that since it was feeding day for my corn snake 2 days after I brought her home that I might as well see if she'd be interested in something as well.

Just quite funny I had been planning to wait to feed her but apparently she didn't want to wait.
