    My new Rat Rack!

So I have been shooting around the idea of making my own rat rack to breed them for my little snake collection. After looking online for a while, I found different things I liked about different one and put a few of them together to come up with one that I think is going to work out well for me.

I made plans of the whole thing using Auto Cad as well and took a few pictures as I was going along. If anyone wants the plans please just email me.

Here are a few pictures. Hopefully no one finds anything too horrible with them but... here they are.

Nice. I wish I had room for a nice, large rack.

Very nice! Blake and I are in the process of making a new rack. It will be my first nice rack! I can't wait, lol. The racks I made by myself suck!

    Re: My new Rat Rack!

Every piece with the excePtion of the slider spacers are 2 x 3 s. I didnt want it to be super heavy and i wanted straight wood. 2x2s are usually not very straight and i didnt want to spend the time ripping 2 x 4s.

I forgot to add the cost for all of it. So here is a break down, it was all bought from Home Depot except for the valves and tubing and such for the watering system.

    18 2"x3" x 8' studs @ $1.73 /ea
    9 mixing tubs (AT2606 is the item #) @ $5.47 /ea
    1/2" x 1/2" Hardware Cloth in 25' roll @ $30.97
    Water Bucket @ $2.60
    Water Bucket Lid @ $.98
    2 Boxes of 2-1/2" course dry wall screws @ $6.47 /ea
1/2" plywood (had them cut it for me) @ $13.97

Total cost is $141.83 + tax (@ Home Depot)

I also used some 1-1/4" drywall screws in the piece of plywood. (I had some of these already.) And I used some smaller 1" screws to hold the 1/4" x 3-1/2" "slider" piece on the spacer.

Then, I chose to use Agselect(dot)com for the watering system, here are the prices for that.

    6 Barbed T's 3/16" @ $.53 /ea
    Tank connector w/ 3/16" barbed @ $8.90
    6 Edstrom Vari-flo Valves 3/16" barbed @ $3.99 /ea
    6 mounting clips for Vari-flo valves @ $.51 /ea
    40' 3/16" id flex-tubing, black PVC @ $.25 /ea
    Drain-vent, Barbed, 3/16" barb @ $3.15
    shipping UPS Ground @ $14.93

    Total for watering system $67.16

Total for 3 x 3 rat rack-------------------------$208.99 + tax If my math is right!
