My two cents for drying substrate... Get a canvas bag, or a pillow case, put the substrate in there. Tie it shut with a shoelace. Then, if your laundry dryer has either a no spin mode, or a tumble free rack, toss it in there for about an hour on high. Done.

It's what I do with my cypress before putting it in.
