    Help With Tubs

Okie doke... so I just picked up Bonnie and Clyde and they were in tiny containers. So I went to Walmart the other day and picked up some bigger tubs. They are 26 1/5" long x 16" wide x 6 3/4" tall. Now I thought they were big enough, however, I picked up some of the small litter pans for hides. The tubs are barely long enough to fit two litter pans, forget about a water dish. What size am I supposed to go up to for these guys? Did I get the wrong litter pans or the wrong tubs?

What size tubs did you get?

Also depending on what you are going to use for substrate you might not need hides. I keep my larger snakes in 41qt tubs with paper and most of the time they just hide under the paper so I don't bother with hides.

They are 34 qt tubs I believe. The measurements were listed above. I got what I saw was being used in a rack being sold online for adult balls. Maybe they are two small or maybe I could try with just one hide?

I've got a 1400 gm female in a tub the size you describe. She's just now getting to where I'm going to go to the next bigger size for her.

If your snakes are small, I think that you bought too much hide for the box. You can save them for when the snakes or bigger or return them.

Snakes like smallish hides where they're sort of packed in them. I think it makes them feel that it would be hard for something to pull them out and eat them. For little snakes I've used a clean dark rag as a hide. They all seem to like them and I've got one not so little one that won't use anything else now. You can use cardboard boxes too if you like. One of my snake's hides is a cut down Captain Crunch box.

Well they are not small snakes. Clyde is abou 900 grams and Bonnie is about 1900 grams. So they aren't tiny lol. They are both adults, though Bonnie is much bigger than Clyde.

I would put Bonnie in at least a 41qt tub. One hide should be fine. That's all I give my little ones and they just move it from the warm side to cool side when they want.

People have different opinions on this, but I'd keep a 1900 gram snake in a 41 quart tub.

Either way, if the hides don't fit in the box, something has to give. A snake needs it's water bowl more than it needs a second hide.

    Re: Help With Tubs

I got 34 qt tubs for my rack. Its a 15/34 qt rack from boamaster. I just got some square black boxes from the dollar rack in target and cut holes in them with the dremel and sanded them down and they just move them from warm to cold when they want

Could probably fit two of them in top left and bottom right corner and the water dish in the middle. Got those from dollar tree they were some kind of bakeware dish that are heavy and can't be tipped.

I took one tub back, kept the other. Got a 41 qt for Bonnie and will use the 34 for Clyde, since he is still much smaller than she is. I think I will go with one hide for now, unless I can find something a better size later. Thanks guys for all the help, I will post pictures soon.
