    Man arrested in GA with 13 reptiles

    Unfortunately any snake local to GA is illegal to have...

    I REALLY want in Indigo so bad too....

    It's odd that corn snakes are illegal to own in GA. They are very common pets.

    Yep, tougher than the laws here in TN. We can have local species, but we have to have a receipt to show we purchased it from a registered pet store. If we buy from an out of state breeder, we have to have receipt AND a $50 import permit.

    This is nothing new. Part of being a responsible reptile keeper is knowing your local laws and following them to the best of your abillity. Cornsnakes have been illegal in Georgia for as long as I can remember.

    This really annoys the heck outta me. People own dogs from all over the world that are not native to the US...or even their state and they dont have to pay any "import permit" fees or show that they have a receipt that they bought it.

    Cornsnakes are a native protective species in GA therefore you cannot kill them or own them as a pet same goes for any other protected species native to GA.
