Re: Ok, I give up. How do you indentify a fire morph?

Fires are one of those genes where low quality examples do look like normals. However, mid to higher end animals definitely stand out from their normal sibs. I picked this girl up at the FIRE show (lol) and at least to my eye, she doesnt look anything like a normal.

Re: Ok, I give up. How do you indentify a fire morph?

I'm no expert, however, I believe that fires have a faded head, clear belly, and a huge amount of blushing. Also the alien heads tend to be lighter colored. Here is one of my males that I am hoping proves out to be a fire this year, he has already locked with 2 females this year.

Perhaps somebody else can check him out and give us some more insight.

You buy it as a fire from a breeder in good standing...

If it's sold as anything else by a breeder, it won't be a fire so you won't have to worry about IDing it

I never understood the big deal about fires until I had the chance to see some quality hatchlings in person. She is now, hands down, my favorite in my collection. I swear she gives off a soft buttery glow at times, something that I feel that may be hard to capture in pics. Most fire hatchlings I have seen do look kind of "meh" though, I understand why it can be hard to see the difference at first.

My fire at a few months old, faded head with dark spot, flames

    clear belly

Same fire now sitting at just over 1300g

Its a morph that is hard to photograph. But in person you can tell by the brightness and the spot on Head.

I have a question to add. Since these fires are so hard to tell apart when they are hatchlings... If you bred a fire to a normal, will the babies all look like normals? Or will you be able to see the spots on their heads right away?

You will know right away. Its a morph you have to see in person to appreciate.

This is 2 fires with 2 normals...

This is 2 fires (bottom) with a light normal (top right)...

And a tail belly shot of RR tracks and partial ringer. More common in some fires.
