Personally I'm a St. Croix guy, but I'd take an Okuma rod over the Ugly stick any day...I think the C3's are marketed as both fresh and salt water reels so it should be okay...may want to double check though...

I was using BCX series in FL and they works just fine in salt and fresh water...
So I believe C3 Should do even better.. I read Opinion on it on Abu Garcia page... most ppl use them for freshwater fishing but opinions from salt water anglers are up high as well....

I love St. Croix... I have 5'6" UL and 6' Light from Triumph Spinning Series with small Shimanos on it and i just love them... I was thinking About 8'6" Heavy action Triumph® Salmon & Steelhead Casting Rod.. but max lure is only 2 oz and 100$ is little bit to high for me right now...

I've never tried the Triumphs...have to check those out. My favorite rig is a Legend Tournament with a Shimano Scorpion 1001...awesome combo!

My wife uses an Avid/Scorpion combo and loves it.

Triumphs are entry Level SCII graphite rod.. Those are little bit more soft .. so catching bluegills with 5.6 ultra light is fricking fun as hell...
