AP enclosure and flex watt
Hi everyone:
I just purchased a new Animal Plastics enclosure and it is awesome. I have a question though. The enclosure is 4x2x12 and I have attached a piece of 11" flex watt to the underside. I have had the flex watt plugged in for about an hour, and I can't even feel any heat inside the enclosure, the flex watt itself doesn't seem very warm. The AP enclosures are 1/2" thick plastic, would I be better off switching to a heat panel? (BTW, my snake is not using the enclosure yet, I am testing temps and what not before I move him).

Re: AP enclosure and flex watt
Do you have the flexwatt hooked up to a digital thermostat? What temperature does the thermostat read? Did you wire it yourself or did you buy it prewired from AP?
It sometimes just takes some time to get started. Flexwatt is a perfectly suitable option for AP cages.
There is also the possibility that you may have a dud. It happens.

Yeah have a Spyder Robotics Herpstat for my thermostat. I have the temp set for 88 degrees, I just checked again and it is now at that temp so you are right it must just take time to warm up. I bought the flexwatt from AP prewired. First time using Flexwatt have always used other UTH so didn't know till now it takes a bit longer to warm up lol. Thanks for the reply!

I have an AP cage that is 4x2x2 with the 11 inch Flexwatt. Mine heats up to 110 degrees in about 10 minutes (if its not plugged into my herpstat)

That's on the Flexwatt itself correct? I just tested mine without a thermastat and on the flexwatt iself under the enclosure got 109.2, but even without a thermastat inside the enclosure it only reached 92.4, obviously too high and I always use a thermastat to keep it at 88-90
