What to breed with a normal (on a budget)?

Hola Amigos!

I have a female normal that needs a male to breed with.

I'd like to get something under $500 that doesn't produce a lot of normals (as they are hard to get rid of and I have limited space).

I am considering getting a bumble bee but I'm open to any suggestions. Watcha think?

In that price range a bumble bee would be a good choice and you would also have the benefactor of a 2 gene animal

I agree. Pastave, Bumblebee, or Pewter. All three would net you a double co-dom animal. Or you could go for something like a Super Pastel, which would guarantee no normal offspring.

under 500 hundred, you can get a super pastel. it should produce all pastels if paired with a normal.

bumble bee is a good place to start - you can get a male bumblebee for around $400 bucks and statistically speaking your odds will look like

25% bumblebee - $400-500
25% spider - $100 - $200
25% pastel - $100 - $200
25% Wildtype - $0

Average 4egg clutch sale: $750.00
Cost of Male: $400.00
Profit: $350.00


My personal recomendation is to throw out about $750 and find yourself a fire enchi. Bread your Fire Enchi to a normal you will statistically get.

25% Enchi - $300 - 400
25% Wildtype - $0

This is just an example and the prices are hypothetical, but when choosing a male for a normal female its important to look for two things:

a) Double Gene morph.
b) Genes that are showing higher prices in the market.

Bumblebees are awesome looking animals and personally one of my favorite morphs, but it has had its run as a new commodity and is dropping hard in price as EVERYONE has one and/ or are breeding them into the market at competing prices.

You can easily double your profits by looking at the current and future market trends and responding to them. It costs a little more in the beginning but its worth the investment.

Canada LOL - I'm buying a 250g Fire Enchi off a breeder I know for $800 in a couple of months. I often forget there are price variants between the two countries.

Yeah, the advantage of a super pastel is, you'll only get pastels, no normals.

The disadvantage is, you'll only get pastels! A super to a normal can't make any supers.

Pewters or bumblebees make 1/4 normals, but also 1/4 pewters and bumblebees.

... and I can't think of any other supers currently available for under $500?
