    Substrate question?

I have a mixture of Eco Earth and coconut chips/ bark in my BP's cage. The humidity is fine but I was just wondering how moist the substrate should actually be? I spray it ( the bedding not the glass) about once a day. It's not bone dry but it's not wet either. I know if it's too wet it can lead to scale rot. So basically how moist is too moist.Any suggestions?

    Re: Substrate question?

I believe that when you pinch up some of the substrate after spraying, you should be able to feel moisture, but not squeeze water out. Also i think one spray on all parts of the bedding, twice a day, should be proficient. In the end just check your temps and humidity and tweak your spraying to what works for you and your snake. Goodluck! hope i was of some help to you!

    Re: Substrate question?

It should be kind of like dip/snuff right after you spray lol.

It sounds fine. Scale rot is a product of wet conditions for long periods of time and bacteria. Often from filth in the enclosure. Much like trench foot in people.
