I usually pair until Ovi or April/May, I have some females laying eggs even though I have never observed any locks (some are sneaky)
And remember it is still VERY early in the season some animals do not show any interest at this point.
And if you really think the male might be one of those picky breeder you can use a few tricks that will help.
