Problem feeders

Im sure everyone with more then a couple BPs have at least one problem feeder. So lets hear about them.

Mine is a 1.0 100% het albino. He was on mice when I got him and now he will only feed on mice. HE will always strike at live and sometimes at F/T. But he will anly take one or 2 adult mice at a time and he 800 g so he def. needs to eat more! I am currently trying to switch him over to rats. Right now nothing yet, but i have confidence in the little guy!!!

I have the daughter of a wild caught extra dark something (charcole or chocolate) she is very very timid. If I change her water or even slide out her rack spot to spot check a day or two before feeding she will not eat. If she get too much of me before rat she will zip into her hide. I have to really well scent the room and then gently slide out her tub (I waxed that shelf so it slides better) and I hide below the floor and offer a rat up and over. It is crazy but 3 out of five times will take it. her dad is better he is timid but not so much not a great feeder either but much better.

Kitedemon LOL I can just picture u on the floor reaching up and trying to feed like that. I only have one picky hatchling but its only been a month so I hope he starts to eat better soon.

It MUST be something in the het albino gene! I have a 0.1 2010 100% het female that will ONLY eat live mice. She snaps 'em up, two at a time on a twice-weekly feeding after a previous 6 month fast but she's the biggest pain I have at the moment. If I could find a breeder-size albino female, well...she'd be getting sold or given away, lol!

I have a Mojave male who only wants mice. Sometimes I can trick him with a mouse scented rat...but that only has a 50/50 success rate. Little jerk will eat a mouse faster than anything, but he makes me dance that rat for a good 10 mins. Ugh!

I also have a female albino boa who prefers mice. She's still pretty small now so it's ok, but I keep telling her she's on borrowed time. I'm not feeding a 6ft+ boa 8-10 mice a week! She will also occasionally fall for the scented rat. I think she's on to me though, cause she'll look at it then I swear she looks at me like, "this isnt what I ordered!" lol!

I have an 08 het pied girl that has been a problem feeder forever. Since I've had her she took a 6 month break and then another 3.5-4 month break. I have found that if I just feed her smaller prey she has been hounding them down for the past while. I don't know if she has just grown out of her pickyness or what. So she is about 1200 g and I feed her large weaned rats. Patience is a virtue. I say as long as they aren't skinny don't worry about it and just let them grow at their own rate. Gotta love bp's!

As of now my only problem feeder is a hatchling normal female. Ever since the first time she bit me she has been very defensive. Because of this, she only bites her food over and over and over out of being defensive. So far all of her meals have been assist fed to her and that's the only way she'll take it for now. Once it's in her mouth I can feel her bite down then the job is done.

I think bp's are picky eaters in general compared to other snakes. Its always good to have a rtb to eat all the extras...... I do have one female lesser who is pickier than the rest, she feeds strong one month and then takes a month long brake and repeats the cycle.

None of our balls are problem feeders. They will occasionally go on your typical month or so ball python hunger strike, but they pretty consistent eaters.

We have an Indonesian tree boa that we (regretfully) got from Underground Reptiles. It has never eaten on its own. Nor did the amazon tree boa or the other Indonesian tree boa that we also purchased from them at the same time.
