Re: Super Black Pastel Questions
is $1200 shipped a good price?

Re: Super Black Pastel Questions
That looks like a super cinny to me. You can get a similar looking animal breeding sinny to cinny, black to cinny or black to black. I have found more flaws in the cinny to cinny breeding. It throws kinks and duck bills frequentlly. I prefer black to black. Its a stronger gene. 1200 shipped is about average market price. I saw a 400 gram male super black at a show recently for 1000.00. Show prices are generally a little lower then on the online market

it wont have shorter life. if you know the genetics, it looks like a super black to me, so id like to know why snake lab doesn't think so for my own knowledge growth.

That one might have a spine deformity 3" to 4" down from it's head. It could just be the way he's tensing up due to the handling and picture-taking, but it looks odd to me. I would get confirmation that there are no spinal abnormalities before sending the funds.

Color. It may just be the picture but in the overhead picture it looks brownish. On the profile pic it does as well. It doesnt look like an animal produced from black to black. If it was it should be all black

I think it may just be the lighting. The whole picture looks brownish.
If the breeder says its a super black, it most often will be, if it is a reputable breeder. There are ways to verify that though.

i would not say hes duck billed at all, id also say he looks like he has some cinny in him. might be cinny to black. either way the price is on target and hes a great looking apparently kink free snake. id buy him if the cash was handy.

Both of my Ian G. black pastels whistle whenever I take them out. I kind of suspect it's the single gene version of whatever causes the duck-billing in the supers...
... so I think that a little duck billing may be unavoidable. But that one looks more like it's got the bug-eyes rather than the duck billing.
I'd ask for some more close-ups of the head and neck, from different angles.
