    How many mates?

What's the maximum number of females you would pair one male with and in what time span?

I asked the same thing and the general consensus seemed to be 3-5.

Depends on age and size, young small males 1 or 2 females is plenty, the larger the male the more females he potentially could breed.
I have a male that will breed 10 or more but he's also over 2000 grams

    Re: How many mates?

As with everything there are a number of factors but it basically comes down to size. I never use a male bigger then the female. Thays just me. I have found that a 1200 gram male will breed 20 girls if ya let him. But thats not good and the male will breed himself dead if ya let him so you need to be careful. I like to put a good 1200 gram male to 4 girls. Although i have a couple studs that will breed the airholes in his tub if ya let em. I have probablly 6 males id be comfortable letting them breed 4 in the first group and 4 in the second group of the year. I breed 3 groups a year so i can breed year round so its not uncommon for my males to be used throughout the year as long as they are still eating to keep stamina going.

I like 4 to 1! This way the females get bred once a month!

Snake Lab mentioned that they can 'breed themselves to death'. Is this something due to the breeding itself, or is it because of the male starving himself?

Basically I'm wondering about a male that continues to eat during the breeiding. As long as they eat, are they ok to pair with any number of females?

It could be from the snake not eating or being so stressed that it gets sick an doesnt make it. Some males will breed even when there sick stressing them out even more till they literally die. Ov if a snake gets sick it should always be pulled and taken to a vet to be put on the proper antibiotics.
