Expos in my area
How do you hear about the reptile expos that you go to? I really want to go to one, but I've NEVER heard of them being around here. (I liv in the hampton roads area of VA). I would be willing to drive up to two hours and make a day of it... but how do you hear about them?

I use google.
This is a site that comes up a lot in my searches. Maybe there is something on there that is close to you: http://www.reptilechannel.com/reptil...le-events.aspx

Go to kingsnake.com and click on events. The next expo close to you is the richmond show on october 30th. I go to that show but its a small show. Still some cool stuff to see. Outback does that show and ian usually has a great spread of animals. Other then that theres the baltimore repticon show on the 8th of october. But theres not many shows that fars south in va but there are some nc.

I also usually go to the Richmond show also. It's a small show but the vendors that are usually there are a bunch of outstanding local breeders such as Carl Gilmore and Colin Weaver just to name a couple.
And if you had to pick just one Richmond show to go to during the year I'd say the October show is the best, lots and lots of BP morphs, if you are into that kind of thing.

Cool! Thanks everyone, I am really gonna try to make that one. I can't buy any more snakes until I move out of the monastery, but I am looking for a better enclosure and UTH. And who knows what else. (Well, I don't know what else anyway, 'cause I've never been to an expo.) The stores around here kinda suck, none of them- including the one that specializes in reptiles- sell anything BUT Zoo Med.

I lived in Tidewater and miss it everyday!
I know you didnt say it, but if you are looking for rodents there is someone there that breeds.

It hadn't even occurred to me to be looking for rodents, actually. I have no idea what one sees at these shows, but I really like reptiles, so I thought it might be something to do.
I get my rats from a Pet World close to my home, they have the best variety of sizes I've been able to find. I would def not want to breed my own, I only have one pet snake so I don't think it would be worth the trouble at this point.
